What is it About
About the Book
One Line at a Time translates the audit methodology of Fortune 500 corporations into a practical, accessible system for the Main Street entrepreneur. Drawing from Robinson De Jesus’ career as a Global Internal Auditor at Kraft Foods, Merrill Lynch, and Moody’s, the book provides the structural tools (risk assessment, variance analysis, control implementation, workpaper documentation), that small business owners have never had access to. Every chapter follows a consistent three-part structure:
- Part 1: The Audit Finding (Story).
- Part 2: The Control Implementation (Frameworks)
- Part 3: The Workpaper (Self-Audit)
Who is it for:
Small Business Owners & First-Generation Entrepreneurs. It is also written for Corporate Professionals looking to break out of the "Glass Ceiling and the golden handcuffs".

Robinson De Jesús
About the Author
Mr. De Jesús is a global business strategist, corporate auditor, and the founder of Efficient Advice, LLC. His career is defined by a unique "Reverse Commute", bridging the gap between the "Dirty Hands" economy of The Bronx and the high-stakes "Clean Hands" world of global finance. Robinson's journey began not in a boardroom, but when he arrived in the United States from the Dominican Republic with a suitcase full of dreams and a language he couldn't speak. The son of a barber with a second-grade education, Robinson taught himself basic English by watching television commercials and navigating the streets of New York City. In his father's barbershop, he learned the fundamentals of customer service and operational discipline. He turned a community college education at Hostos into a launchpad, eventually earning his Bachelor's degree from Baruch College and landing roles at some of the world's most prestigious financial institutions. Robinson De Jesús went from an ESL student in The Bronx to a Corporate Auditor and Risk Assessment Professional for Fortune 500 organizations, including Altria Group, Inc (Kraft Foods), Moody's Investor Services, and Merrill Lynch. He later served as the Latin America Director for Wolters Kluwer's TeamMate, supervising operations in more than 20 countries across continents and managing risks totaling billions. Robinson has traveled to 24 countries across South America, Europe, and Asia (including Dubai, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Spain, and Ireland), to represent his organization's vision and ensure the integrity of the world's largest financial systems. Today, Robinson applies that same corporate rigor to Main Street. His private consulting practice helps small business owners move from "survival mode" to "systems mode" by deploying the risk assessments, internal controls, and efficiency protocols usually reserved for billion-dollar corporations.
PART 1 - THE RAW MATERIALS (The Journey Up)
It’s about the skills you acquire when you are just trying to survive, whether on the streets of The Bronx or in the cubicles of Wall Street. It’s about recognizing that your past isn’t baggage; it’s inventory. (Chapters 01 thru 08).
PART 2 - THE UNLEARNING (The Transition Back)
Before you can build the new structure, you have to demo the old one. We will dismantle the myths sold to us by the educational system and corporate culture, the idea that a degree saves you or that following their rules makes you rich. (Chapters 09 thru 11).
THE DRAWING BOARD (The Methodology)
This is the methodology. We will apply the "Auditor’s Lens" to your business. We will look at how to turn chaos into structure, how to use technology to level the playing field, and how to translate deep complexity into simple value for your clients. (Chapters 12 thru 15).
PART 4 - THE BALANCE SHEET (Legacy & People)
A good auditor knows that profits aren’t the only thing that matters. We will look at the human infrastructure required to sustain success and how to define a legacy that goes beyond the bank account. (Chapters 16 thru 18).
