You cannot improve retention without measurement. However, overly complex surveys often go unanswered.
SIMPLE FRAMEWORK: 5 QUARTERLY QUESTIONS.
Our framework uses five concise questions, asked quarterly.
Scale 1-10: "How likely would you recommend working here?" (eNPS - Employee Net Promoter).
Scale 1-10: "How clear is your growth path next 12 months?" (Career clarity).
Scale 1-10: "How valued do you feel your contributions are?" (Recognition).
Scale 1-10: "How much are you learning and growing in your role?" (Development).
Open: "What ONE thing would you change?" (Action item).
Implementation:
The survey is anonymous, takes two minutes to complete, and is conducted quarterly. Results are shared transparently with the team.
Key Action:
Identify scores below 7, discuss them in one-on-one meetings, and take action within 30 days or communicate any constraints. Track changes each quarter.
Key Metric to Monitor:
If a high performer’s score drops by two or more points on any question from one quarter to the next, treat this as a red flag and schedule a stay interview immediately.
